  1. Meditate daily

Meditation is a millenary practice that has been present in almost every ancient culture, helping our ancestors to equilibrate, concentrate, connect with their inner selves and being more wise. In a world full of distractions having a moment to reflect and just let things flow through our minds is a really good exercise for obtaining balance and inner peace. Also, The benefits of meditation are great, ranging from better stress management to a lower risk of depression.

And what better way to meditate than doing it in the middle of a mystical and magical place as Costa Rica, particularly in one of the most beautiful places there is: Reserva Conchal.

2. Start a “stop doing list”

Instead of following the common “to do list”, starting a “stop doing list” will make you take note of the unproductive ways you spend your time and focus on breaking those habits. Once the old habits are broken, devote your energy to starting new, healthier habits that will lead to self-improvement.

3. Exercise

The benefits of exercise are immense, from improving our health to making us happy, this activity is something we should consistently do every day or at least 3 times a week. Exercise will not only help you achieve your beach body but will also contribute to age gracefully and without problems.

In Reserva Conchal you will have access to everything you need to keep you active, plus the amazing benefits of exercising near nature will boost and multiply you overall health.

4. Challenge yourself

Thinking that we have achieved everything can be dangerous. We should be proud of all we have accomplished but we always need to seek new challenges, goals and interests that can keep us moving forward. Learning a new language or music instrument, challenging our beliefs or starting a new hobbie can increase our intelligence, strengthen our mind and keep it sharp.

Remember that not getting an education or taking advantage of opportunities are two of the things people look back on their lives and regret the most.

5. Don’t obsess over “how” you’ll do something.

Sometimes we are afraid of starting new things because we don’t know how to do it. We fear of starting a new business, beginning a new project or take risks because the “how” is the central question we always ask. But it shouldn’t be this way.

Obsessing over your “how” will only lead you to full-on panic. Define your “why” for sure, but let go of the “how.” By doing this, you will be able to think of solutions rather than doubts.

6. Read more

Keep one in your car, your bag, or your briefcase. The next time you find yourself waiting in line, waiting for an appointment, or waiting to meet a friend, open your book and read instead of pulling out your smart phone and scrolling through social media. Engaging with one story or idea, rather than bouncing between hundreds of little pieces of trivial, often irrelevant news, helps your mind stay calm, focused, and present.

7. Live in a different city at least once in your life

Awareness, education, and respect for other cultures will enhance your life in untold ways. It will also expand your business and social circles. Whether you’re visiting the neighboring city you’ve never seen or hiking in Costa Rica for the first time, experiencing the unfamiliar leads to renewed energy and creativity, newfound perspectives, fun memories, and — at the very least — an interesting story.

8. Get enough sleep

Being tired actually makes it harder to be happy. Lack of sleep can make you more vulnerable to depression, anxiety and physical disease. The common phrase “Sleeping on it” does improve decision making.

Naps are great too. Naps increase alertness and performance on the job, enhance learning ability and purge negative emotions while enhancing positive ones. Here’s how to improve your naps.

9. Express gratitude

Human beings need positive reinforcement and words of affirmation in order to feel connected and cared about. We need to feel appreciated, valued, and respected.

So be generous with your compliments and praise. If you like your coworker’s outfit, tell her. If you find yourself admiring your brother’s sense of humor, let him know. Sharing your kind thoughts is the easiest, quickest way to positively impact someone’s day. It will also make you happier and improve your relationships.
